• この度、RAINMAKER はオランダ人フォトグラファーVIVIANE SASSEN / ヴィヴィアン・サッセン氏によって撮り下ろされた2024 年秋冬シーズン キャン ペーンビジュアルを発表します。

    ヴィヴィアン・サッセン氏は世界のトップフォトグラファーとしてディオールや ルイ・ヴィトンなどのラグジュアリーブランドのキャンペーンからアート作品ま でファッションとファインアートを自由に横断しています。

    また、本キャンペーンでは、石を主材とする彫刻家 樂 雅臣 / らく まさおみ氏に 制作依頼をした作品、「輪廻」を象徴的に使用。
    桃山時代、千利休に重用され樂焼を創設した樂家初代長次郎から450 年。
    その長い歴史を紡いできた樂家15 代吉左衞門の次男として生まれた樂 雅臣氏は 「石の中に表現を、表現と共に自然を」を信念とし、自然を支配することなく、石 の造形を生かした作品づくりを行っています。

    撮影は樂 雅臣氏に所縁のある佐川美術館・樂吉左衞門館を舞台に行いました。 樂吉左衞門館は樂 直入氏（15 代樂吉左衞門）自身が設計の創案・監修をおこな い、その長い歴史に培われた美学を継承しながら、現代的な空間へと具現化され ています。

  • Rainmaker is pleased to announce the campaign visuals for the FALL WINTER 2024 season,captured by Dutch photographer, Viviane Sassen.

    As one of the world’ s most esteemed photographers,Viviane Sassan freely traverses through the worlds of fashion and fine art.
    She is known to shoot both fine art photography as well as fashion campaigns for brands such as Louis Vuitton and Dior.

    In addition to Ms. Sassen, this campaign symbolically uses the sculpture “Transmigration” by Masaomi Raku, a sculptor whose main material is stone.

    It has been 450 years since Chojiro, the first generation of the Raku family,founded Rakuyaki (Raku-ware pottery) under the guidance of Sen no Rikiyu in the Momoyama period.Born as the second son of the 15th generation of the Raku family,Masaomi Raku, who has spun a long history individually,believes in "expression in stone, nature with expression,"and creates works that make use of the natural shape of stone, without trying to force its form.

    The shooting took place at the Raku Kichizaemon Kan in the Sagawa Art Museum,which is connected to Masaomi Raku. The design of the Raku Kichizaemon Kan was designed and supervised by Jikinyū Raku(Raku Kichizaemon XV ) him self,and has been transformed into a modern space while inheriting the aesthetics cultivated over its long history.

    *The sculpture "Transmigration" created by Masaomi Raku is currently installedin the tsubo-niwa garden of the RAINMAKER flagship store which welcomes visitors.

    1972 年アムステルダム（オランダ）生まれ、同地在住。

    ファッションデザインを学んだ後、ユトレヒト芸術大学（HKU）とアトリエ・アーネムで写真を学ぶ。

    彼女の作品は大規模な個展の対象 となっており「Lexicon」、Foto Kunst Stadforum（インスブルック、オーストリア、2017年）、「Umbra」、 Deichtorhallen（ハンブルク、ドイツ、2017年）、「Umbra」、Museum of ContemporaryPhotography（シカゴ、アメリカ、2017 年）などがある。サッセンは数多くのグループ展にも参加しており、2017 年にピューリッツァー芸術財団、アムステルダムのライクスミュージアム、2018 年に中国の CAFA 美術館、2020 年にサンフランシスコのマッケヴォイ芸術財団、2022 年にヴィンタートゥールのフォトミュージアムなどがある。

    また、彼女の作品は 2013 年の第 55 回ヴェネツィア・ビエンナーレのメイン展示「The Encyclopedic Palace」で紹介された。
    2011 年にはニューヨークの国際写真センター（ICP）のインフィニティ賞（応用／ファッション／広告写真部門）を受賞。
    2015 年にはドイツ写真アカデミーからダヴィッド・オクタヴィウス・ヒル・メダルを授与された。また、出版物でも数々の賞を受賞している。
  • Viviane Sassen was born in 1972 in Amsterdam and lives there.

    She studied fashion design, f o l lowed by photography at the Ut recht School of the Arts (HKU) and Ateliers Arnhem.

    Her work has been the subject of major solo exhibitions, in cluding Lexicon at Foto Kunst Stadforum, Innsbruck, Austria in 2017;
    Umbra at Deichtorhallen, Hamburg in 2017;
    and Umbra at the Museum of Contemporary Photography, Chicago in 2017.

    Sassen has also taken part in numerous group exhibitions, including at the Pulitzer Arts Foundation in 2017;
    at Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam in 2017;
    at CAFA Museum, China in 2018;
    at McEvoy Foundation for the Arts, San Francisco in 2020;
    and at Fotomuseum, Winterthur in 2022.

    Her work was featured in the main exhibition at the 55th Venice Biennale, The Encyclopedic Palace in 2013. In 2011, Sassen was awarded the International Center of Photography in New York’s Infinity Award for Applied/Fashion/Advertising Photography. In 2015, she was awarded the David Octavius Hill Medal from the German Photography Academy.

    She has also received numerous awards for her publications.

樂 雅臣 / らく まさおみ　　MASAOMI RAKU

  • 1983 年、樂家 15 代直入の次男として生まれる。

    2008 年東京造形大学院美術研究領域造形研究科修了。

    石を彫刻することで人工物として支配する事なく、自然をいかし、造形と共存した作品を表現する。これを「石の中に表現を、表現と共に自然を」という自身の言葉に込め制作する。

    主な個展に美術館「えき」KYOTO、石川県立美術館での「彫刻家 樂雅臣展」 （2017）、京都の賀茂別雷神社「樂雅臣個展」（2015）・「石器　石から器を」 （2023）など。
    ヴェネチア・ビエンナーレにあわせ催される Palazzo Fortuny での特別展 「PROPORTIO」（2015）・「INTUITION」（2017）にノミネートされ出品。 海外でも広く活躍する。
    2018 年京都市芸術新人賞受賞。

    「輪廻」
    自然の摂理を元に生と死の繋がり、それにともなう共存共栄を表した作品。
    何を持って生とするか、何を持って死とするか。
    永遠に続く輪廻の回転を「円」の形状で表した彫刻である。
    円相的な意味を持ち、平和の連なり、縁の広がりを願いを込め作られる。
    全ての作品へと繋がる、自身の彫刻の始まりのシリーズである。
  • Born in 1983 as the second son of the 15th head (Jikinyu) of the Raku family.

    Completed his M.A. in sculpture, Major in Fine Arts,at Graduate School of Tokyo Zokei University in 2008.

    Rather than cutting into stone to dominate it and produce something that is largely the result of human intervention,his practice focuses on following the will of nature, creating works that are in harmony with the forms produced, guided by his aim “to find expression in stone, and to respect nature in the act of making.”

    His major solo exhibitions include “Sculptor Raku Masaomi” at Museum “Eki” Kyoto and Ishikawa Prefectural Museum of Art (2017),
    “Raku Masaomi Solo Exhibition” at Kamo-wake-ikazuchi Shrine in Kyoto (2015),and “Sekki: Carved from Stone” (2023).
    He was nominated to participate in the special exhibitions
    “PROPORTIO” (2015) and “INTUITION” (2017) at Palazzo Fortuny in conjunction with the Venice Biennale.
    In 2018, he received the Best Young Artist Award by City of Kyoto.

    “TRANSMIGRATION”
    This work expresses the connection between life and death, and the coexistence and co-prosperity that accompanies this, based on the laws of nature.
    What constitutes life and what constitutes death?
    This sculpture represents the eternal rotation of transmigration in the shape of a circle.
    It has a circularity, and is made with hope for a continued peace and the expansion of relationships.
    This series is the beginning of my own sculptures, which connects to all of his works.
